- 35-40 saltine crackers
- 2 sticks butter (NOT margarine)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 ½ to 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup (or so) finely chopped nuts to garnish
Preheat oven to 400 degrees (375 for dark pan). Line a rimmed cookie sheet with aluminum foil. Place saltine crackers in a single layer on cookie sheet.
In a saucepan, melt butter, pour in brown sugar, then gradually bring to a boil. Boil for three minutes exactly without stirring. Immediately pour over saltines and spread quickly to cover crackers completely.
Bake for 5-7 minutes (watch carefully, it will burn quickly). Remove from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the top. Let sit for three or four minutes and then evenly spread melted chocolate over crackers. Sprinkle with chopped nuts.
Place in the refrigerator until completely cooled. Break into pieces.
