Double Duty Date Night

Valentine’s Day usually follows on a weekday, which presents a challenge for deciding when to celebrate the romantic holiday. When it falls on Ash Wednesday, that adds another whole dimension to the day. This year, we accepted the challenge and planned an early dinner between work and church at a new restaurant called Sabor Modern Latino. We spoke to the owner who is from Costa Rica and whose husband is a sushi chef, and they merged the two cuisines into one unique restaurant. I had the enyucados (yucca pastry filled with ground beef) and hubby has the chicken taquitos; we also split a Summer Roll. Everything was muy bueno!

We went back to Sabor for breakfast in May and enjoyed some huevos rancheros and a breakfast burrito. Muy delicioso!

Oooh, I love a good fusion restaurant. Ma Tante Sumi in the Castro in San Francisco blended French and sushi, and a (now-closed) place in Asheville (The Flying Frog, I think?) blended German and Indian. Their menu link doesn’t work (you have to go in as if you were going to order online), but the variety is very nifty! I’ll have to remember to call in an order the next time I have a client near there!

Thanks for being the best restaurant reporter!

You could always meet up with friends who miss you when you’re on their side of town…. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hee! I’m still masked everywhere and not dining IN restaurants, so unless they have a spacious patio, it’ll still be a bit longer.
