The Soup Diva

It’s hard to believe, but our medium-sized southern city has a pretty authentic New York deli — River Street Deli. It’s tucked into a building along Frazier Avenue on one side and Coolidge Park on the other, with panoramic views of the Tennessee River (and my workplace!) We’ve each been there several times, but this was only our second visit together; the deli closes at 3, but we left work early for an appointment with my surgeon and grabbed a late lunch after. My favorite thing is their seafood salad and his is the Reuben; but today we opted for the oven-fried chicken sandwich and the meatloaf sandwich, both daily specials and both excellent.
